5th World Youth Congress in Istanbul

The city of Istanbul, Turkey is currently hosting the 5th World Youth Congress (WYC) on Youth and Development.

In the wake of Istanbul’s current position as Europe’s Capital of Culture, the WYC gathers 1,400 young people – young activists, young journalists and entrepreneurs – from all over the world who have come to Istanbul to directly engage with development professionals, UN agencies and government officials.

Under the theme “Imece” – an ancient Turkish word expressing the tradition of solidarity and collective work for the common good, the participants will take part in plenary and regional meetings, skills workshops, cultural events, exhibitions and local action projects and share their experiences with local youth and communities.
