European Youth Work Convention in Ghent

The first European Youth Work Convention, organised by the Belgian EU presidency, will start today in the city of Ghent, Belgium.

From 7-10 July youth workers from 50 European countries will meet to discuss about the role of youth work especially concerning its needs, strengths and assets in order to initiate discussions for its developments on a European level.

The event will give room to a number of workshops in which the participants will be able to think about future steps concerning impact and effects of youth work, its recognition and visibility as well as the professionalism of youth workers, training and mobility. The conference will be rounded off by the presentation of a declaration based on the outcome of the workshops, which will be presented throughout the closing session of the event on July 10.

ERYICA will actively take part in this event next to representatives of the European Youth Forum, the European Commission, the Council of Europe as well as other institutions and organisations dealing with youth.
