Youth Information and Counselling Seminar in Oulu

Next Thursday, the 6th of May 2010, the National Coordination and Development Centre of Youth Information and Counselling will organise a Youth Information and Counselling theme seminar in cooperation with Kanuuna Network in the city of Oulu.


The seminar will gather around 50 participants, among those the directors of Youth Affairs and Service Managers from the 24 biggest cities in Finland. Kanuuna network unites the 24 biggest cities in Finland with the aim to develop urban youth work, done in these cities. The network organises annual theme seminars and this year the theme is Youth Information and Counselling Work. 



During the seminar, participants will get a compact overview of Youth Information and counselling work. The Counsellor of cultural affairs, Mr Kimmo Aaltonen from the Ministry of Education/Department for culture, Sport and Youth policy will bring their regards and message to the seminar. ERYICA president Marc Boes will give a speech about the importance of Youth Information and counselling work followed by a brief overview of the position of Youth Information and counselling work on a European level. National Coordinator Jaana Fedotoff will talk about Youth Information and counselling as a basic youth work service in Finland. And Planning Officer Mika Pietilä will present latest research results to the participating cities about the current state and future visions in Youth Information and counselling services. During the seminar also two examples of good practice will be presented, one from Kuopio region project and one about new Youth Information and counselling service model from Oulu city. Additonally, the Helsinki city Youth Affairs department will give some insight on youth research done in the Youth Information centre Kompassi about guidance and counselling for young people.
