Meet the Street - II

Meet the Street - LOGO

The Meet the Street Project is happy to announce the launch of its second phase in March 2009.  In the framework of the second phase, Meet the Street - II organizes an event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on the 16 - 19 of April 2009.

The event in Rotterdam will gather 40 youngsters from the youth information centres that are part of the project.  The meeting organized will allow them to share their interviewing experiences, to exchange ideas on the project and to see which problems they have faced, yet how they have solved them during the first phase of the project.  ERYICA will organize some additional training in order to ease the process of peer to peer interviewing.

The scheduling of the event coincides with the European Youth Information Day, taking place on the 17th of April 2009 all over Europe.

Noteworthy is the fact that both the discussions and the training provided in the framework of the Meet the Street - II are in the spirit of the European Youth Information Day slogan Feel Free to Ask.

The Meet the Street - II phase of the Project will run until September 2009, and you can already listen to the interviews taken as well as watch short movies shot by project participants at www.vimeo.com/groups/meetthestreet.

This project is implemented with the support of the «Youth in Action» Programme (Action 5.1) of the European Commission.

The success of the first phase of the Project, the slogan of the European Youth Information Day, as well as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation have all inspired ERYICA to create a follow up of the Meet the Street, and the Meet the Roads initiative has been drafted.

Meet the Roads is planned to be a tour of youngsters coming from different European countries in a truck, where youngsters will be able to conduct peer to peer interviews (one minute long) with non organized youth.

Meet the RoadsYoungsters will have laptops and Internet access in the truck, so as to be able to process the interviews, upload them on Internet, and even add subtitles.

It is yet another European consultation, which will possibly take place from August till December 2009, should the funding from the European Commission be approved (expected confirmation - June 2009).
