Digiraatia tool for dialogue with young people in a digital environment

Service design is a growing trend in developing youth work in Finland. Youth Information services have used the method in strengthen the participation of young people (and) when Y.I. services have been developed, evaluated and renewed. Youth workers are interested in ensuring their skills and competencies in service design. Koordinaatti as a national YI actor is supporting these learning needs by offering DesYIng-training courses online.

Koordinaatti has developed its role in digital participation by using service design methods. The Finnish Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education and Culture launched a new digital participation platform (virtual council), Digiraati, in cooperation with a national network of experts and various organisations. Koordinaatti's role in this development work is to test the platform with municipal officials.

The aim is to give organisations and decision-makers the opportunity to consult young people in decision-making and matters concerning young people and to give young people the opportunity to raise topics they want to be heard about. They can also participate in the preparation, facilitation, and communication of the Digiraati-discussions.

Youth Information and Counselling work ensures that young people have sufficient information as a basis for making decisions about their choices and their own lives. In dialogue with young people, we can strengthen young people's understanding, knowledge, and growth into active citizens.

The number of participants is unlimited; the platform is national wide.
