European Solidarity Corps - EU's new initiative

The European Union’s new initiative, European Solidarity Corps, has started out successfully. Officially launched in December 2016, the European Solidarity Corps has already around 28,000 young people registered and the goal is that 100,000 young people take part in the programme by the end of 2020. The legislative proposal for the European Solidarity Corps is in May 2017. In the end of May, they proposed a budget of 341 million  for the volunteers of the European Solidarity Corps.

The European Solidarity Corps helps young people to volunteer or work in solidarity-related projects. Projects can last from two to twelve months and they can be in the young person's own country or abroad. Projects can consist of helping rebuild a school after a natural disaster, supporting asylum seekers or working with disabled people in a community centre. The people attending a project must be 18-30 year olds, but can register at 17. The project must be finished before the participant turns 31.

European Solidarity Corps can help young people to find work or volunteer in different kinds of solidarity-related projects and we see a great future for this EU's new initiative.
