Human rights youth information website

By the Youth Foundation Baden-Württemberg.

As the streets are crowded with people, the young journalist loses track of her surroundings. She has never seen such an amount of people standing up for their beliefs simultaneously. The young woman has been fighting for equal rights and against the country’s oppression for years, but now the protests have reached their peak. Since she is openly against the government, she constantly needs to live with the possibility of getting imprisoned. Nonetheless, she does not stop fighting for human rights, although she is risking everything: her job, her loved ones, and her life.

Situations like this do not only exist hypothetically. In a variety of countries, people must face extreme human rights violations. For example, they are not allowed to express their opinions or, as in the case of the journalist, to publish non-compliant articles. However, to be aware of any violation of your rights, you need to be informed about it.

This is precisely where our human rights website comes in. We want to inform young people about their rights as human beings. On this website, you can find an overview of the different human rights articles, just as explanations of important terms such as “antisemitism” or “equality”. Furthermore, we suggest various ideas to carry out our own projects regarding human rights.

And since human rights are for everybody, they also should be accessible for everyone, hence our updates on the website. We will include simple language and sign language to help overcome barriers.

Do you want to have a look at it? You can find it at www.menschenrechte.jugendnetz.de and on Instagram at @jugendnetz.de_bw .

In addition, we are very open to using the knowledge and resources available for human rights to carry out projects with cooperation partners, for example, a website transfer to another country in another language.
