Join the UNESCO MIL CLICKS movement!

Many people are using social media to access information and media. This is especially so for youth who spend much time on different networks. Therefore, social media can be used to train people, in their normal social context, to be more MIL competent. Social media can also deliver compelling information to raise awareness about the importance of media and information literacy to all levels of society.

MIL CLICKS is a social media innovation led by UNESCO. The acronym MIL CLICKS stands for Media and Information Literacy: Critical-thinking, Creativity, Literacy, Intercultural, Citizenship, Knowledge & Sustainability. The objectives of this social media strategy are to use social media to:

1) Expose people to become more media and information literate, and

2) Raise awareness about the importance of media and information literacy (MIL).

Social media can be used as a powerful tool to help people develop better media and information literacy. It can be used to deliver compelling information to raise awareness about the importance of media and information literacy to all levels of society.

MIL CLICKS will strive to increase the likelihood of the media reporting about MIL, engage with donors for MIL education, introduce new public policy promoting MIL and grow the number of partner organisations that are part of the movement for online literacy

MIL CLICKS targets policymakers, MIL experts, educators without MIL expertise, development agencies, private sector organisations and the general public.

It is currently available in English, Portuguese and Serbian.
