ERYICAst 2023 series is out now!
In 2023, ERYICAst features a new format!
From now, ERYICA’s podcast series will be shorter but more numerous, focusing each episode on one topic and speaker. This new version will make our podcast more accessible, easy to be listened to in one go.
The 2023 series will feature key topics and experts that will provide their expertise to youth information workers and use this knowledge in youth information and counselling services.
In the first episode, we explore algorithms. Whether we’re aware or not, algorithms have become an ever-present part of our online lives. They’re on our computers, phones, tablets and smartwatches and are busily doing their jobs in the background as we browse the internet. But do we really know what they are and how they work? How are they influencing young people? And how might we use them to our advantage? To answer these questions?
In the second episode, we interview Alexandre Sayad to look into the latest developments in artificial intelligence. As the technology becomes more accessible to a wider population, new concerns arise around its use. Where is AI going? What new challenges and opportunities are there on the horizon? Which is the spectrum of AI ethics?
In the third episode, we speak to Simone Vibert from Internet Matters about a new report they've published into the metaverse titled A Whole New World. This report presents early evidence of the opportunities and risks posed to children and makes some recommendations about what a child-friendly Metaverse might look like.
In this last episode, Reid Aiton from Young Scot discusses how they've adapted youth information services to the digital age. Young Scot creates engaging content, collaborates with young influencers, and emphasizes the importance of authentic and trend-savvy content creation. They face challenges like digital poverty but remain committed to providing reliable information, earning them the European Youth Information Quality Label.
