“Discover different professions” – An information series from Cyprus

Last July, the Cyprus Youth Information Centres started an informative online series entitled “Discover”. This series aims to introduce young people to various professions and is addressed to high-school and university students and their parents. By attending these online workshops, young people can discover various professions, learn about postgraduate programs and possible employment opportunities in each field. 

The first three-day session was focused on the fields of biology and Information Technology.

During the 1st day of each session, university professors and researchers from each scientific field present a more theoretical and academic scope of the topic. On the following two days, presentations and workshops are made by professionals of each field who share their own experiences and answer questions from participants. Experiential workshops are also held to develop soft skills to achieve personal and emotional development and help participants make a more conscious choice of their field of study.

More than 140 participants took part in the first three-day session who had the opportunity to learn about IT professions, such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity and other IT professions and digital skills.

Τhe next “Discover” session will focus on the fields of architecture and civil engineering.
