"La i joven" returns to the CRIDJ of the Community of Madrid
Although face-to-face services have been suspended since March 2020, the Regional Information and Documentation Centre (CRIDJ) of the Community of Madrid has continued coordinating the information services belonging to the Network of Youth Information Centers and responding to inquiries received via email and telephone.
Face-to-face services of the Information Office respond to the queries of young people from the Region of Madrid on relevant topics, e.g. employment, health, education, leisure and free time, youth participation and involvement. In addition, the face-to-face services of the Studies Department and the Legal Department, two of the most relevant specialised information services of the CRIDJ, are also reopened because they are in high demand by young people, given the importance of the subject matter they deal with and also due to the lack of this type of services.
The reopening of face-to-face services is a new challenge for the CRIDJ, which is committed to youth-friendly information based on veracity, detailed explanation, analysis and support in management. In short, youth information at young people's service. When the digital and virtual world is increasingly present in our lives, and when access to information is so quick and easy, it is essential to bear in mind that access to misinformation and manipulation, used as forms of propaganda and marketing, is equally easy and immediate. That is why currently, youth information services cannot be dispensed with, and public entities must continue to support young people's access to truthful and contrasted information adjusted to their needs and interests. This is critical to designing a more committed, inclusive, respectful, and active society and citizenship.
We firmly believe in the benefits and convenience of the digital era. Therefore, we wish to emphasise the significance of using digital media to benefit young individuals rather than treating them as commodities of the virtual age. With this notion in mind, the CRIDJ's youth information workers and counsellors embark on this new phase with enthusiasm, professionalism, and high expectations while keeping in mind the crucial aspect of listening to and learning from young people.
