The National Ukrainian Youth Association (NUMO) was officially founded in 2019 as a union of the 9 largest youth organisations that have a total of 500 local branches in all the regions of Ukraine, in particular - youth centres, student self-organisation bodies, scout movements and local branches of NGOs. NUMO is united on the common values of the Revolution of Dignity (Euromaidan) and the need to provide core elements of civic education as youth participation. The mission of the association is to promote the participation of young people in civic life to foster civil society and sustainable development in Ukraine.
NUMO engages in various activities, including advocacy, analysis, education, and institutional work, all focused on promoting sustainable civic education. Our network works to advance youth policies and legislation, advising authorities and local governments on how to implement more effective youth programs. We also provide training for trainers and assist member organisations in enhancing their non-formal education programs. Additionally, we support the development of youth infrastructure at the national, regional, and local levels, such as the Youth Civic Education Center in Kyiv.
Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia last year and ongoing conflict since 2014, the network has initiated projects to support safe environments for Ukrainian youth, particularly those who have been displaced, combat misinformation about the current situation in Ukraine, and strengthen the capacity of local NGOs.
