What’s on the Yinfopeers network?

In the Youth Ambassadors and YInfoPEERs project framework, two training sessions were organised: the first on the advocacy for the young people’s right to information; the second on the peer-to-peer approach in youth information. The first training session was carried out on 7-8 and 14-15 May. 30 Youth Ambassadors for Youth Information from 9 countries (Spain, Slovenia, Ireland, Austria, Croatia, Malta, Cyprus, North Macedonia) participated. MISSS (Slovenia) hosted the session.

The topics discussed were the concept of youth information, with an emphasis on the impact it has on young people’s lives; the state of Youth Information in Europe, also focusing on the impact of youth policies on everyday life; and Media and Information Literacy, where the YAYIs (Youth Ambassadors in Youth Information) realised video testimonials with their opinion on the importance of youth information and the role of youth information in the post-truth era.

During the training, it was also explained what the Youth Ambassador’s role entails. The YAYIs will be involved in the ERYICA network through a framework in which they can be permanently engaged in decision-making processes and activities. More concretely, their tasks and role will consist of:

  • Piloting manuals, toolkits and MOOC courses;

  • being involved in the formulation and implementation of projects;

  • contributing to the creation of a European network of Youth Ambassadors for Youth Information, being the YAYIs a link between ERYICA and the youth ambassadors at the national level;

  • organising events at the local and European levels.
