Boosting youth information cooperation in Southwest Europe

More than 30 representatives from ERYICA member organisations in Andorra, Spain and Portugal gathered in Benicassim (Spain) for the 5th Ibero-Insular Working Group meeting in early November.

The meeting, held every year, is an excellent opportunity to catch up on the latest developments in the network, exchange best practices among working group members and discuss the most burning issues of the youth information field in the territory.

This year we had a space for debate where representatives from Ac2ality, a Generation Z media outlet, and Ariadna Fernández Planells, professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, discussed information trends and challenges of this generation and the transition towards a new digital media language. The debate aroused great interest among the participating organisations and served to highlight the importance that youth information services play not only in informing the young person, but also in accompanying and counselling them in their decision making and transition to adulthood.

Besides, the three working commissions of the working group also had the chance to update on the projects and activities developed over the last year and to plan their activities for 2022. We are excited to announce that an Erasmus+ TCA proposal was approved by the Spanish National Agency, whereby the working group members will organise in June 2022 an Ibero-Insular Youth Ambassadors Meeting in Mollina, Málaga. Stay tuned for more information!

We would like to thank the Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ) for the warm welcome and for allowing us to exchange ideas, discuss hot topics, and last but not least, see each other again face-to-face! Moltes gràcies!

In 2022, the 6th ERYICA Ibero-Insular Working Group Meeting will be hosted by IBJOVE in the beautiful Island of Menorca (Balearic Islands, Spain).
