How did we celebrate the International Youth Day in Romania?

T-shirts, badges, flyers, and an army of enthusiastic volunteers set the stage for a vibrant celebration of International Youth Day across Romania. Starting on July 27th, the excitement built up to August 12th, when over 6,300 young Romanians and Ukrainians engaged in 22 simultaneous street activities with the help of 212 young information agents. Our youth workers lead workshops on creating social media campaigns and fighting disinformation, empowering 86 young participants to become informed digital citizens.

The nationwide celebration involved 17 member foundations of the National Youth Foundation. Apart from the activities following this year’s International Youth Day theme: “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for a Sustainable Development”, some youth foundations got even more creative. The Argeș County Youth Foundation hosted a mini arts festival, spotlighting young talent. Bucharest's youth indulged in a Kpop party and thematic activities, while Dâmbovița's youth explored the universe at the “Perseide 2024” astronomy camp. The Prahova County Youth Foundation facilitated focus groups, shaping the future Ploiești Youth Strategy, and orchestrated the vibrant “Urban Street Art Festival”. This youth-led event showcased creativity through workshops and performances, celebrating young artists.

Meanwhile, the Timiș County Youth Foundation's “Youth Summer Fest” engaged young people in international connections. Young people from Timișoara, Lugoj, and Jebel participated in workshops on diverse topics, from recycling to virtual reality, and enjoyed concerts, exhibitions, and interactive games.

These dynamic initiatives demonstrate the power of Romanian youth foundations to inspire, educate, and connect young people. The collaborative spirit and diverse activities showcased the potential of Romania's youth sector, leaving a lasting impact on participants and communities alike.
