Highlights from the Hungarian Presidency EU Youth Conference

The EU Youth Conference of the Hungarian Presidency took place in picturesque Budapest from 7 to 10 September. The main theme of the event was finding solutions that help young people living in more isolated areas, with fewer opportunities, get more information and opportunities and use their untapped potential to prosper locally.

It has been a successful event for youth information and counselling, as the importance of young people’s access to information is mentioned three times in the conclusions of the conference. These call the Member States to:

  • “Promote youth-friendly platforms for accessing information on youth programmes, quality employment opportunities and funding [...];

  • Improving access to services and information related to mental health through inspiring local action and fostering dialogue [...];

  • Increasing access to infrastructure, tailored to the needs of young people, such as internet connectivity, information, transportation, clean energy, as well as physical and mental health services.”

The above recommendations feed into the Council's Conclusion on the outcomes of the 10th Cycle, under the trio presidency of Spain, Belgium and Hungary.
