Empowering Youth for a Stronger European Democracy in Romania

The National Youth Foundation from Romania is currently implementing the “Empowering Youth for a Stronger European Democracy” project, which is designed to promote the 2024 European elections, the benefits, and the activity of the European Parliament among Romanian youngsters.

Through this project, we want to educate young people about democracy and how they can participate directly by voting. With the help of the youth workers from our centres, but also with the help of our 45 youth ambassadors from all around the country, the team has organised so far 38 fun and interactive quiz sessions with more than 730 participants and 30 informative and engaging workshops about the European Union and the European Parliament with over 500 participants.

These activities were implemented using non-formal education methods so that the young people can better and easier understand what exactly they will vote for in June 2024, that their voice matters in the context of the European elections and how they can help shape the future of Europe.

Moreover, we trained 8 Moldovan youth workers to conduct our project’s activities in their country, an EU-candidate state, to correctly inform the young people with Moldovan-Romanian citizenship about their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

Through this project, we also started travelling through different cities of Romania in our so-called “Youth debates tour”, in which we discuss with the young people their needs and how they are being addressed in the European Parliament, inviting representatives of decision-making institutions and breaking the barrier between the youngsters and the decisional process actors.

We are more than happy and curious to see the continuation of this project and how we can all contribute to this unique movement in promoting the #EE24.
