Multilingual youth information in Estonia
Since May 2022, the Estonian youth information service Teeviit has provided information to young people in four different languages. The action aims to ensure that young people whose mother tongue is not Estonian can access quality and reliable information, including war refugees, international students, local minorities, and visitors.
To gather the info, Teeviit is holding a particular landing page, and the information is in Estonian, English, Russian and Ukrainian. You can change the language at the top right-hand corner of the page.
All content is identical in each language. Youth workers, youth information workers, and teachers can use the website to share information with young people on a specific topic, even if they do not speak the language of young people. The website also allows one to find information in one language and read the same in other languages. It is a helpful and trustable tool when working with young people with different mother tongues.
From the landing page, young people and youth workers will find information on ten
different topics from reliable and verified sources. The main areas are education, youth work, media, and information literacy, employment, financial literacy, youth and civil rights, physical health, mental health, sexuality, relationships, environment, and safety. In addition, there are around 100 articles and posts, and information. The content is constantly updated.
The landing page address is www.teeviit.ee/youth-info.
Teeviit is a nation-wide web-based service that provides young people with relevant information in an age-appropriate and friendly way, taking into account young people’s interests and current trends.
