One step further for the recognition of youth information workers

Over the past few years, ERYICA and Eurodesk have been working to make the recognition of youth information workers at the European level a reality.

In September 2021, the two organisations launched #YouthInfoComp, the first European competence framework for youth information professionals. The framework highlights the necessary competencies that youth information professionals require to support young people and provide quality services.

After a couple of years of joint advocacy with Eurodesk, "youth information worker" was officially included as an occupation in ESCO, the European skills/competencies, qualifications and occupations dictionary, in January 2022.

We are delighted with all the progress that is being made in this area, and we hope that this recognition will contribute to the recognition of the work of the thousands of youth information professionals across the continent.
