The Youth Congress of Catalonia in the European Year of Youth

The Youth Congress of Catalonia in the European Year of Youth
The Youth Congress of Catalonia will be held on 17-19 March 2022. The congress is an initiative backed by the Catalan Government and local authorities in conjunction with the National Youth Council of Catalonia (CNJC). It is conceived as a platform bringing together and representing youth associations and made up of nearly one hundred organisations and federations.
The Congress will be a key discussion forum rounding off a series of conferences that kicked off a few months ago. The purpose of these events was to come up with a shared assessment of the situation of Catalan youth, evaluate the effectiveness and impact of public policies aimed at young people, and jointly map out the main priorities and strategic strands for the coming years. These in-depth discussions, coupled with the pooling of ideas set at the Congress, will shape a significant agreement designed to lay the foundations for a new National Youth Plan of Catalonia (PNJCat). The PNJCat addresses the challenges and needs of a generation that has had to be young at a particularly adverse time and in a particularly adverse context.
The Congress will also be an opportunity for all the players involved in the lifecycle of youth policies to come together again in the same place after two years of pandemic and restrictions. It will thus be a venue open to all, featuring the involvement and input of youth professionals and technical staff, policymakers from the youth departments in various tiers of the government, and of course the youth association movement.
Finally, the Congress will additionally make it possible to share and compare the policies pursued in Catalonia with other European benchmarks. One of the sessions will aim to strike up a conversation with members of European institutions and agencies, including ERYICA, and with young people engaged in European organisations and international programmes. In short, it is a commitment to exchanging ideas and knowledge and adds to the events of the European Year of Youth.
