Policy recommendations and guidelines to ensure young people's right to information and counselling

The Importance of Information in the growth of youth

In today's rapidly changing world, the significance of information in the growth of young individuals cannot be overstated. Access to accurate and timely information empowers youth to make informed decisions, fosters critical thinking, and nurtures a sense of responsibility. It is through information that young people can explore their interests, understand their rights, and navigate the complexities of modern society.

Developing Common Practices

To effectively support youth, it is essential to develop common practices in information and counselling work. These practices ensure that all young individuals, regardless of their background, have access to the resources they need. By establishing co-created and shared, standardized guidelines and methods, we can create a cohesive and supportive environment that promotes the well-being and development of youth.

Support is needed

In conclusion, the role of information in youth development is paramount. By emphasizing the importance of information and developing common practices, we can create a brighter future for young individuals. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that youth have the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world. I hope that youth information and counselling workers have all the necessary support to develop youth information services together with young people and learn to leverage artificial intelligence in their efforts

Under the leadership of Koordinaatti - the National Centre of Expertise for Youth Information and Counselling Work from Finland (2006-2024), youth information and counselling actors have defined youth information work and services in many ways. Based on that work they designed recommendations and guidelines for youth information development which can be used to ensure equal and high-quality youth information services. The content of the recommendations have been produced in cooperation with actors involved in youth information and counselling work in Finland and finalised by Jaana Fedotoff.
