The ABC on youth’s mental health in Austria

Pandemics, concerns about the future, pressure to perform well at school, work... In today's world, the mental health of young people is constantly put to the test. As a result, many develop emotional distress or even mental illness.

For the Austrian Youth Information Centers, it is important to sensitise young people to this topic, inform them about counselling centres and give them tools to better deal with negative feelings.

As part of these goals, a brochure titled "Wie geht es dir?" (eng: "How are you?") has been published. It comprises 100 pages and includes articles, interviews, self-checks, and an ‘ABC on mental health’ where the most important terms regarding mental health are explained. It is available for free at all Austrian Youth Information Centers. In addition, supporting teaching material, a website and a social media campaign including 4 podcast episodes and a webinar will be launched in October to draw more attention to the topic.
