What do young people stand for?

Since the launch of the #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign in May 2021, Youth Activists organised over 100 separate activities in 16 European countries. More than 3000 responses from young Europeans were collected in a survey that affirms that climate change, education, mental health, and freedom of self-expression are their main concerns that demand urgent action and should be heard by politicians.

With all these insights and more, the European Youth Card Association (EYCA) created the report Research Report, 'Youth Stand for the Future of Europe'. The purpose is to investigate and describe the opinions and attitudes of young people towards the European Union and bring forward their ideas and priorities to be used as a reference point at the Conference for the future of Europe.

79% of young people are in favour of the EU, but they think some things need to be changed.  They lack information about Europe’s institutions and activities; they demand to be heard and be more informed on how to make their voices heard.

The report is focused on three key research questions:

  • What are the issues of high priority for young people?

  • How do they feel about the European Union?

  • Which thematic areas do they rank as important to be prioritised in the Conference for the Future of Europe?
