Youth Partnership Symposium on young people, climate crisis and sustainability
Sustainability and climate crisis are one of the key priorities for young people, which also feature highly on the policy agenda. The EU-CoE Youth Partnership organised a symposium on these topics at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg, on 24-26 September 2024, where ERYICA also participated.
The event discussed questions such as the shift away from climate change mitigation towards the systemic nature of the climate crisis, the reframing of the concept as “climate justice”, its effect on mental health and wellbeing, as well as the engagement of young people. The group of young people, youth professionals and climate activists also discussed policy responses to the climate crisis, young people’s demands and how youth work and youth organisations can best engage with and support these actions and requests. The skills youth sector professionals need in this context were addressed too.
ERYICA and Eurodesk also presented the Greening Youth Information Services publication, which helps youth information service providers to do their part in this common endeavour.
