The Communication and Information Sector is composed of two sections: Freedom of Expression and Media Development and the Knowledge Societies Division. The cooperation between ERYICA and the Sector is mainly based upon the concept of Media and Information Literacy (MIL).

ERYICA is also a member of the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Alliance since 2017, and of the International Organising Committee of the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2022. We also were part of the stakeholder consultation of the renewed EU Digital Education Action Plan.
