United Nations — ECOSOC

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations brings people and issues together to promote collective action for a sustainable world.

+ Website

At the centre of the UN development system, ECOSOC is responsible for promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress; identifying solutions to international economic, social and health problems; facilitating international cultural and educational cooperation; and encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Since 2022, ERYICA holds a consultative status. This status provides NGOs with access to not only ECOSOC, but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, ad-hoc processes on small arms, as well as special events organised by the President of the General Assembly.
