FRA launches survey to assess challenges in civic spaces

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is conducting a survey to identify the challenges civil society organisations face in their daily work and explore ways to address them. This initiative aims to gather insights from organisations operating in EU Member States, as well as in Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia.

Civil society organisations—including NGOs, academia, associations, unions, and faith-based organisations—are encouraged to participate and share their experiences. The survey covers key aspects such as funding, attacks and their impact, protection mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and access to decision-making.

The results of this consultation will be widely shared with policymakers, donors, the media, and civil society actors to help shape policies that support and strengthen civic space. The survey is open until 7 April 2025, and responses are fully anonymised.

Your input is valuable—contribute to shaping a better environment for civil society across Europe!
