Say Здраво to Poraka Nova!

Poraka Nova (Centre for improvement of the quality of life of the persons with intellectual disabilities and their families Poraka Nova) was founded in Struga, North Macedonia, 1984  and since then has been active in the field of youth, working on different projects and programs where the main target groups were youngsters. One of the nine main programs that Poraka Nova has in its strategy is Youth and Volunteering. In the frames of the association exists a Youth Club, which provides free career and educational opportunities for youth and offers them help, advice, and support through personal and professional development, focusing on people with intellectual disabilities.

Poraka Nova's work principles are Equal opportunities, Transparency, Responsibility, Partnership, Tolerance, Sustainability, Inclusion, Participation.

Youth social entrepreneurship is very familiar to PORAKA NOVA. For more than 20 years, we have been trying to find social innovations and possibilities to involve young people with and without disabilities in the self-sustainability process. The organisation is financed by the Erasmus + Program (KA1, KA2, KA3), the Europe for Citizens Program, and national institutions and donors.

One of the most important youth-related projects that is currently being implemented in Poraka Nova is the Erasmus+ project Novel Framework for democratic participation and Engagement of Underrepresented European Youngsters. NEUEYT aims to activate youth citizenship and democratic participation, focusing on youngsters in rural areas, which are more in need of involvement, to engage proper dialogue with policymakers.

From 2022 Poraka Nova became the managing and administering entity of the www.mladiinfo.eu youth information portal, encompassing website and social media channels. Poraka Nova will continue the successful legacy of the Mladiinfo portal dedicated to youth information on education and youth engagement through digital media. The organisation will also expand its focus and cover youth information provision in its activities.
